Veneers can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including teeth that are:
Having veneers placed usually takes more than one dental appointment, but more than one veneer can be placed at a time. To receive a veneer, a tooth must have approximately ½ a millimeter of the enamel removed. A local anesthetic may be used for this part of the procedure. Once the tooth (or teeth) has been prepared, impressions will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the veneers are created. Temporary veneers can be placed while waiting for the veneers to be completed. After about two to four weeks, the veneers will be ready to be placed on the teeth. The fit and shade of the veneer will be checked against the natural teeth and trimmed as needed. When the fit is satisfactory, the teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched, and the veneers will be placed using a special cement and hardened with a special light beam.
